According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 17.9 km² (6.9 mi²). 13.9 km² (5.4 mi²) of it is land and 4.0 km² (1.5 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 22.14% water.

Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 2,095 people, 783 households, and 583 families residing in the town. The population density is 150.6/km² (389.8/mi²). There are 865 housing units at an average density of 62.2/km² (160.9/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 91.31% White, 0.10% African American, 4.39% Native American, 0.24% Asian, 0.24% Pacific Islander, 0.29% from other races, and 3.44% from two or more races. 1.43% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 783 households out of which 38.3% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 58.5% are married couples living together, 11.7% have a female householder with no husband present, and 25.5% are non-families. 23.1% of all households are made up of individuals and 10.9% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older.
