Manitowoc County is a county located in the State of Wisconsin. As of 2000, the population is 82,887. Its county seat is Manitowoc[?]6.

Geography According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 3,869 km² (1,494 mi²). 1,532 km² (592 mi²) of it is land and 2,337 km² (902 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 60.40% water.

Demographics As of the census1 of 2000, there are 82,887 people, 32,721 households, and 22,348 families residing in the county. The population density is 54/km² (140/mi²). There are 34,651 housing units at an average density of 23/km² (59/mi²). The racial makeup of the county is 95.90% White, 0.30% African American, 0.43% Native American, 1.98% Asian, 0.04% Pacific Islander, 0.60% from other races, and 0.76% from two or more races. 1.62% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 32,721 households out of which 31.50% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 57.10% are married couples living together, 7.50% have a female householder with no husband present, and 31.70% are non-families. 26.80% of all households are made up of individuals and 12.10% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.49 and the average family size is 3.04.

In the county, the population is spread out with 25.50% under the age of 18, 7.60% from 18 to 24, 28.20% from 25 to 44, 23.00% from 45 to 64, and 15.70% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 38 years. For every 100 females there are 98.20 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 96.10 males.
