The Maine Coon is one of the largest breeds of domestic cat. The breed was created in North America, and it has very long dense fur, and a bushy striped tail. Maine Coons are large energetic tabby-coloured (striped) cats.
The name comes from the legend that a domestic cat released in the wilds of Maine interbred with a Raccoon, resulting in offspring with the Maine Coon characteristics.
