Magic Kingdom (Terry Brooks)

The Magic Kingdom series is a children's quintet by Terry Brooks following the adventures of Ben Holiday, a trial lawyer[?] who goes into a depression after the death of his wife and unborn child. He finds that he is no longer motivated by justice and feels that the legal system is profoundly flawed; this leads him to respond to a fantastic advertisement for a "Magic Kingdom" which he purchases, suspecting some deception behind it; he is shocked to find that the kingdom is real and that is in a state of collapse. Ben Holiday takes the job of king and finds himself having to meet many challenges.

Terry Brooks has stated that he currently has no plans at the moment to extend the series, but that he might return to it at some later date if he has any new ideas for it. The movie rights for the first book were sold in the 1980s but no movie has yet been made.
