Geography According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 19.6 km² (7.6 mi²). 8.7 km² (3.4 mi²) of it is land and 10.9 km² (4.2 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 55.54% water.

Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 859 people, 404 households, and 244 families residing in the village. The population density is 98.7/km² (255.3/mi²). There are 630 housing units at an average density of 72.4/km² (187.3/mi²). The racial makeup of the village is 93.02% White, 0.12% African American, 4.54% Native American, 0.12% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 2.21% from two or more races. 0.81% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 404 households out of which 21.5% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 48.5% are married couples living together, 9.4% have a female householder with no husband present, and 39.6% are non-families. 34.4% of all households are made up of individuals and 15.8% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older.
