Geography According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 47.4 km² (18.3 mi²). 46.5 km² (17.9 mi²) of it is land and 0.9 km² (0.4 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 1.97% water.
Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 32,681 people, 11,706 households, and 9,388 families residing in the township. The population density is 703.4/km² (1,821.8/mi²). There are 11,931 housing units at an average density of 256.8/km² (665.1/mi²). The racial makeup of the township is 93.32% White, 1.81% African American, 0.07% Native American, 3.72% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.29% from other races, and 0.78% from two or more races. 1.42% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 11,706 households out of which 40.6% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 72.5% are married couples living together, 5.7% have a female householder with no husband present, and 19.8% are non-families. 16.2% of all households are made up of individuals and 4.9% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.77 and the average family size is 3.13.
In the township the population is spread out with 27.6% under the age of 18, 4.2% from 18 to 24, 30.0% from 25 to 44, 27.8% from 45 to 64, and 10.4% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 39 years. For every 100 females there are 95.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 92.1 males.
The median income for a household in the township is $98,090, and the median income for a family is $106,908. Males have a median income of $80,329 versus $47,138 for females. The per capita income for the township is $43,983. 2.7% of the population and 1.8% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 2.8% are under the age of 18 and 3.7% are 65 or older.
