There are 104 symphonies by the the ClassicalcomposerJoseph Haydn on which numbers are now generally agreed upon. These numbers correspond to the ones given in Anthony van Hoboken's catalogue of all his works. It is generally thought that this numbering sytem does not reflect the actual order of composition very well, but the system is now almost universally used (other systems have been used in the past).
