- Robert Heinlein, (1907-1988), (refused on various occasions to commit to a firm belief in any theological or metaphysical propositions)
- Thomas Hobbes, (1588-1679), English philosopher
- Thomas Henry Huxley, (1825-1895), coiner of the term agnosticism
- Protagoras - Greek Sophist and first major Humanist
- Bertrand Russell, (1872-1970), Welsh philosopher
- Mark Twain, American author
