Lincoln County, Minnesota

Lincoln County is a county located in the U.S. State of Minnesota. As of 2000, the population is 6,429. Its county seat is Ivanhoe6.

Geography According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 1,420 km² (548 mi²). 1,391 km² (537 mi²) of it is land and 30 km² (11 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 2.08% water.

Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 6,429 people, 2,653 households, and 1,785 families residing in the county. The population density is 5/km² (12/mi²). There are 3,043 housing units at an average density of 2/km² (6/mi²). The racial makeup of the county is 98.82% White, 0.05% African American, 0.28% Native American, 0.20% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.42% from other races, and 0.23% from two or more races. 0.86% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 2,653 households out of which 27.00% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 59.70% are married couples living together, 4.60% have a female householder with no husband present, and 32.70% are non-families. 30.50% of all households are made up of individuals and 16.80% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.35 and the average family size is 2.93.

In the county the population is spread out with 23.70% under the age of 18, 6.10% from 18 to 24, 23.00% from 25 to 44, 22.70% from 45 to 64, and 24.50% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 43 years. For every 100 females there are 97.30 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 94.80 males.

The median income for a household in the county is $31,607, and the median income for a family is $38,605. Males have a median income of $26,494 versus $20,083 for females. The per capita income for the county is $16,009. 9.70% of the population and 7.00% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 9.60% are under the age of 18 and 15.00% are 65 or older.
