Lima, Montana

Lima is a town located in Beaverhead County, Montana. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 242.

Geography Lima is located at 44°38'9" North, 112°35'31" West (44.635813, -112.592058)1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 1.4 km² (0.6 mi²). 1.4 km² (0.6 mi²) of it is land and none of it is covered by water.

Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 242 people, 109 households, and 64 families residing in the town. The population density is 169.9/km² (438.7/mi²). There are 158 housing units at an average density of 110.9/km² (286.4/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 92.98% White, 0.00% African American, 2.89% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 1.65% from other races, and 2.48% from two or more races. 1.65% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 109 households out of which 22.9% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 53.2% are married couples living together, 3.7% have a female householder with no husband present, and 40.4% are non-families. 34.9% of all households are made up of individuals and 13.8% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.22 and the average family size is 2.94.

In the town the population is spread out with 25.6% under the age of 18, 2.5% from 18 to 24, 24.8% from 25 to 44, 24.4% from 45 to 64, and 22.7% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 44 years. For every 100 females there are 103.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 93.5 males.

The median income for a household in the town is $20,313, and the median income for a family is $28,438. Males have a median income of $22,083 versus $17,500 for females. The per capita income for the town is $13,163. 26.8% of the population and 20.6% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 47.4% are under the age of 18 and 11.9% are 65 or older.
