Lenapah, Oklahoma

Lenapah is a town located in Nowata County, Oklahoma. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 298.

Geography Lenapah is located at 36°51'6" North, 95°38'12" West (36.851617, -95.636572)1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 1.0 km² (0.4 mi²). 1.0 km² (0.4 mi²) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water.

Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 298 people, 109 households, and 81 families residing in the town. The population density is 295.0/km² (770.5/mi²). There are 139 housing units at an average density of 137.6/km² (359.4/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 66.78% White, 7.72% African American, 16.78% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 1.01% from other races, and 7.72% from two or more races. 1.34% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 109 households out of which 40.4% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 56.9% are married couples living together, 13.8% have a female householder with no husband present, and 24.8% are non-families. 22.0% of all households are made up of individuals and 14.7% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.73 and the average family size is 3.12.

In the town the population is spread out with 31.9% under the age of 18, 8.1% from 18 to 24, 28.9% from 25 to 44, 18.5% from 45 to 64, and 12.8% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 34 years. For every 100 females there are 102.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 89.7 males.

The median income for a household in the town is $29,688, and the median income for a family is $35,357. Males have a median income of $31,250 versus $22,000 for females. The per capita income for the town is $14,087. 17.3% of the population and 14.5% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 18.5% are under the age of 18 and 22.0% are 65 or older.
