The racial makeup of the city is 33.83% White, 58.77% African American, 0.12% Native American, 1.58% Asian, 0.06% Pacific Islander, 1.61% from other races, and 4.04% from two or more races. 6.94% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
