Latah County is a county located in the U.S. State of Idaho. As of 2000, the population is 34,935. The county's county seat is Moscow, Idaho6.

Geography According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 2,789 km² (1,077 mi²). 2,789 km² (1,077 mi²) of it is land and 1 km² (0 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.02% water.

Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 34,935 people, 13,059 households, and 7,770 families residing in the county. The population density is 13/km² (32/mi²). There are 13,838 housing units at an average density of 5/km² (13/mi²). The racial makeup of the county is 93.94% White, 0.59% African American, 0.75% Native American, 2.10% Asian, 0.09% Pacific Islander, 0.77% from other races, and 1.76% from two or more races. 2.12% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 13,059 households out of which 27.90% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 50.50% are married couples living together, 6.10% have a female householder with no husband present, and 40.50% are non-families. 26.30% of all households are made up of individuals and 6.30% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.38 and the average family size is 2.93.

In the county the population is spread out with 20.30% under the age of 18, 24.50% from 18 to 24, 26.90% from 25 to 44, 18.90% from 45 to 64, and 9.50% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 28 years. For every 100 females there are 107.50 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 108.10 males.

The median income for a household in the county is $32,524, and the median income for a family is $46,303. Males have a median income of $34,734 versus $24,886 for females. The per capita income for the county is $16,690. 16.70% of the population and 7.90% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 10.20% are under the age of 18 and 5.40% are 65 or older.
