Lan Caihe

Lan Caihe (藍采和 in pinyin: lan3 cai3 he2), in Wade-Giles as Lan Ts'ai-ho, is the least known of the Eight Immortals. Lan Caihe's age and sex are unknown (see section "depiction" below). S/he was from Tang Dynasty. His/her behaviour was out of norm and deemed strange by most people. S/he wore only shorts and thin shirts in winter, and thick jacket and long pants in summer. S/he walked with one foot bare and another with shoe.

An Immortal whose sex is surely female is Immortal Woman He.

Depiction

Depicted often as a girl or boy, but sometimes as a woman or a man, s/he carries a flower basket[?].
