Lake Kathryn is a town located in Lake County, Florida. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 845.

Geography Lake Kathryn is located at 29°0'51" North, 81°29'32" West (29.014151, -81.492091)1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 7.4 km² (2.9 mi²). 7.3 km² (2.8 mi²) of it is land and 0.2 km² (0.1 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 2.44% water.

Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 845 people, 344 households, and 215 families residing in the town. The population density is 116.5/km² (301.8/mi²). There are 456 housing units at an average density of 62.9/km² (162.9/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 96.09% White, 0.71% African American, 0.24% Native American, 0.24% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 2.72% from two or more races. 2.01% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 344 households out of which 25.3% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 49.7% are married couples living together, 6.4% have a female householder with no husband present, and 37.5% are non-families. 26.7% of all households are made up of individuals and 12.8% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.46 and the average family size is 3.00.

In the town the population is spread out with 25.1% under the age of 18, 5.6% from 18 to 24, 27.2% from 25 to 44, 24.0% from 45 to 64, and 18.1% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 40 years. For every 100 females there are 108.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 104.2 males.

The median income for a household in the town is $15,733, and the median income for a family is $17,143. Males have a median income of $25,000 versus $13,750 for females. The per capita income for the town is $8,816. 36.9% of the population and 34.8% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 36.5% are under the age of 18 and 40.9% are 65 or older.
