Lady Macbeth

Gruoch (1007 - 1060) was the wife of Macbeth of Scotland. They met in 1020. She was the daughter of Bodhe[?].

She appears in Shakespeare's play Macbeth, but the play, and the character of Lady Macbeth, are only very loosely based upon actual events. Lady Macbeth has become an archetypical character, providing the standard template for a wife pushing her husband to do harm through her own ambition.
