Lady Jessica

In Frank Herbert's Dune series of science fiction novels, Lady Jessica is the daughter of Baron Vladimir Harkonnen, this Bene Gessirit[?] was consort to Duke Leto Atreides and mother of Paul and Alia (the abomination.) Out of her love for Duke Leto she disobeyed the orders of her superiors in conceiving Paul (thereby giving him a son) as she had been instructed to bear a daughter who was to be the mother of the Kwisatch Haderach[?]. Following the assassination of Duke Leto Atreides she became Reverend Mother to the Fremen on Arrakis by converting the raw spice essence into the "Water of Life."
