La Villa is a city located in Hidalgo County, Texas. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 1,305.

Geography La Villa is located at 26°17'53" North, 97°55'37" West (26.298093, -97.926927)1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.7 km² (0.3 mi²). 0.7 km² (0.3 mi²) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water.

Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 1,305 people, 323 households, and 290 families residing in the city. The population density is 1,866.2/km² (4,870.4/mi²). There are 354 housing units at an average density of 506.2/km² (1,321.2/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 66.67% White, 0.08% African American, 0.38% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.08% Pacific Islander, 30.34% from other races, and 2.45% from two or more races. 98.08% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 323 households out of which 49.8% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 62.2% are married couples living together, 25.4% have a female householder with no husband present, and 10.2% are non-families. 9.9% of all households are made up of individuals and 5.6% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 4.04 and the average family size is 4.35.

In the city the population is spread out with 37.1% under the age of 18, 12.6% from 18 to 24, 25.6% from 25 to 44, 16.5% from 45 to 64, and 8.2% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 25 years. For every 100 females there are 87.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 84.1 males.

The median income for a household in the city is $18,333, and the median income for a family is $20,284. Males have a median income of $14,769 versus $15,682 for females. The per capita income for the city is $5,432. 47.6% of the population and 48.4% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 59.5% are under the age of 18 and 35.9% are 65 or older.
