La Maddalena

La Maddalena (loc. A Maddalena), a town and a island of est. 12,000 inh. in northern Sardinia, (Italy), between Corsica and Sardinia.

Founded by corsican shepherds. The local dialect, called isulanu, is a transiction between Corsican and gallurese, influenced also by genovese dialect.

Port in connection with Palau, Sardinia. In the near island of Caprera the Giuseppe Garibaldi house (now national museum). Historical battles. Important tourist destination, Granite, Italian and American Navy bases.
