Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 1,244 people, 547 households, and 305 families residing in the town. The population density is 167.9/km² (435.6/mi²). There are 607 housing units at an average density of 81.9/km² (212.6/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 79.74% White, 19.05% African American, 0.08% Native American, 0.32% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.08% from other races, and 0.72% from two or more races. 0.56% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
