Redirected from Khedamat-e Etelea'at-e Dawlati

KHAD or KhAD is an abbreviation for Khedamat-e Etelea'at-e Dawlati, the Afghanistan Marxist regime's secret police, also called the State Information Agency.

Set up in 1980 and controlled by the KGB, this was a brutal agency for the suppression of the regime's internal opponents.

It was initially headed by Mohammad Najibullah, until he became President of Afghanistan in 1986.
