Keystone, Colorado

Keystone is a town located in Summit County, Colorado. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 825. Keystone is most famous for Keystone ski area. Origionally constructed in the 1970's by Ralsoton Purina Company, it is now owned by Vail Resorts.

Geography Keystone is located at 39°36'15" North, 105°56'53" West (39.604233, -105.948111)1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 105.3 km² (40.6 mi²). 105.3 km² (40.6 mi²) of it is land and 0.02% is water.

Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 825 people, 327 households, and 88 families residing in the town. The population density is 7.8/km² (20.3/mi²). There are 2,606 housing units at an average density of 24.8/km² (64.1/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 86.55% White, 0.48% African American, 0.00% Native American, 1.33% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 9.09% from other races, and 2.55% from two or more races. 13.58% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 327 households out of which 6.7% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 22.0% are married couples living together, 1.5% have a female householder with no husband present, and 72.8% are non-families. 21.1% of all households are made up of individuals and 0.6% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.23 and the average family size is 2.42.

In the town the population is spread out with 7.2% under the age of 18, 39.9% from 18 to 24, 36.5% from 25 to 44, 12.5% from 45 to 64, and 4.0% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 26 years. For every 100 females there are 186.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 195.8 males.

The median income for a household in the town is $43,654, and the median income for a family is $68,750. Males have a median income of $26,563 versus $30,833 for females. The per capita income for the town is $24,085. 22.1% of the population and 0.0% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 0.0% are under the age of 18 and 0.0% are 65 or older.
