Keating Township, Potter County, Pennsylvania

Keating Township is a township located in Potter County, Pennsylvania. As of the 2000 census, the township had a total population of 307.

Geography According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 107.1 km² (41.4 mi²). 107.1 km² (41.4 mi²) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water.

Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 307 people, 128 households, and 92 families residing in the township. The population density is 2.9/km² (7.4/mi²). There are 398 housing units at an average density of 3.7/km² (9.6/mi²). The racial makeup of the township is 99.02% White, 0.33% African American, 0.33% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.33% from other races, and 0.00% from two or more races. 1.95% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 128 households out of which 24.2% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 64.1% are married couples living together, 5.5% have a female householder with no husband present, and 28.1% are non-families. 23.4% of all households are made up of individuals and 5.5% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.40 and the average family size is 2.76.

In the township the population is spread out with 22.5% under the age of 18, 3.6% from 18 to 24, 23.8% from 25 to 44, 33.6% from 45 to 64, and 16.6% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 45 years. For every 100 females there are 104.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 105.2 males.

The median income for a household in the township is $30,417, and the median income for a family is $32,500. Males have a median income of $30,938 versus $21,250 for females. The per capita income for the township is $13,716. 12.2% of the population and 9.3% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 2.8% are under the age of 18 and 14.7% are 65 or older.
