Kahoolawe

Kahoolawe is the 8th largest island in the Hawaiian archipelago. It was used for target practice by the United States Navy for many years. Popular sentiment against this practice eventually prevailed, and the Navy has almost completed a cleanup of unexploded ordinance from the island. The island is officially uninhabited, but visited from time to time.

The island is supposed to be given back to the Hawaiian people after the cleanup is complete.
