Juneau, Wisconsin

Juneau is a city located in Dodge County, Wisconsin. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 2,485. It is the county seat of Dodge County6.

Geography Juneau is located at 43°24'23" North, 88°42'12" West (43.406251, -88.703399)1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 4.0 km² (1.6 mi²). 4.0 km² (1.5 mi²) of it is land and 0.64% is water.

Demographics As of the census1 of 2000, there are 2,485 people, 818 households, and 554 families residing in the city. The population density is 619.0/km² (1,602.5/mi²). There are 863 housing units at an average density of 215.0/km² (556.5/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 97.99% White, 0.32% African American, 0.16% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 1.13% from other races, and 0.40% from two or more races. 2.54% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 818 households out of which 33.3% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 56.4% are married couples living together, 7.3% have a female householder with no husband present, and 32.2% are non-families. 26.9% of all households are made up of individuals and 12.7% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.46 and the average family size is 2.99.

In the city the population is spread out with 20.9% under the age of 18, 8.9% from 18 to 24, 28.5% from 25 to 44, 21.0% from 45 to 64, and 20.7% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 40 years. For every 100 females there are 99.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 99.9 males.

The median income for a household in the city is $42,162, and the median income for a family is $50,263. Males have a median income of $33,708 versus $24,783 for females. The per capita income for the city is $17,286. 5.9% of the population and 3.5% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 5.2% are under the age of 18 and 7.5% are 65 or older.
