JonBenet Ramsey

JonBenet Ramsey was a 6-year-old beauty pageant queen murdered in December of 1996 in her family's Boulder, Colorado, home. The crime remains unsolved.

JonBenet's body was found early Christmas Day, 1996, in the basement of her four storey house. She had been strangled, her skull bashed in, and possibly and most probably sexually abused.

A kidnap note had been left - it was strange, containing many spelling errors and an odd sum of money. It threatened that JonBenet would be "beheaded" if her father, John Ramsey and her mother, Patricia (Patsy) Ramsey did not pay up. However, only a few hours after Patsy discovered the note, John found JonBenet's already slain form in the basement.

Police and private detectives were called, nothing eventuated. There are two theories: one, that John and/or Patsy Ramsey killed JonBenet, or two, an intruder did. Both theories have their strong points and their weak points, and though the "parents did it" theory is most widely accepted, it has recently said that an intruder most likely killed JonBenet. The case, unfortunately, remains unsolved. This is also due to the lack of evidence - before the police arrived, the Ramsey family managed to touch JonBenet's body, and also many things involved in the murder.

The case was given much speculation because JonBenet was a beauty queen, at six years old. Her parents claim this was not her life, but sadly, many pictures and videoes of the little girl in performing circulated the media rather than pictures and videoes of the little girl just playing with her brother, riding her bike, and smiling at school - and many of the pageant photos were altered, to give JonBenet more make-up or different clothing. Some say JonBenet was pushed too far, but then, most people base this soley on the pictures of JonBenet in her costumes, rather than on any evidence. Her parents say JonBenet was just a happy little girl who participated occasionally in beauty pageants, perhaps this is what we should believe.

JonBenet's murder may never be solved, and to this day, the muderer is going free.
