John Ogonowski

John Ogonowski, American pilot and agricultural activist. He was the captain of American Airlines Flight 11, which crashed in the September 11, 2001 Terrorist Attack. A resident of Dracut, Massachusetts, he was a leading figure on behalf of farming in Massachusetts, particularly for immigrant farmers from Cambodia who he assisted as part of the New Entry Sustainable Farming Project. He had just celebrated his birthday. He was survived by his wife Peggy, their three children, (Mary Catherine 11, Caroline 14, and Laura 16) as well as by his brother Jim, and parents. His brother Jim stated the 150-acre land owned by John would be preserved as open space, as John would have preferred.
