John Demjanjuk

John Demjanjuk (known disparagingly as: "Ivan the Terrible"), of Cleveland, Ohio, was convicted of war crimes, in 1986. In 1983, the 6th US Circuit Court of Appeals[?] ruled that Demjanjuk was a victim of prosecutorial misconduct (as federal prosecutors had deliberately withheld evidence) and his sentence was overturned. In the meantime, Demjanjuk had been stripped of his citizenship and been extradited to Israel; from which he returned following a decision by the Supreme Court of Israel[?].
