John August Roebling

Johann August Roebling (1806-1869) was a German-born civil engineer, educated at the University of Berlin, who moved to Pennsylvania (U.S.) in the 1830s and designed several famous bridges, including the Brooklyn Bridge and the Niagara Railway Suspension Bridge.
