Johannes Daniel Falk

Johannes Daniel Falk was born in 1768 in Danzig. He was a poet and in 1816 he wrote the German text O du froeliche.. to the melody of one of the most popular christmas songs O Sanctissima. Falk was the founder of the so-called Falk'sche Institute, a public education place for orphans in Weimar.
