Johan Halvorsen (1864-1935) was a Norwegian composer, conductor and musician. Born in Drammen, he played the violin at an age of nine, amd in 1883 he went to Stockholm for his music studies. He continued his studies in Leipzig, then went on to Aberdeen in 1887, to Helsinki in 1890, before he went on to Bergen in 1893, and finally to Oslo in 1899.

His best known compositions are the "March of the Boyars" (Bojarenes inntogsmarsj) and Bergensiana.
