Jim O'Rourke

Jim O'Rourke (born 1969) is an American musician and producer, associated with the Chicago jazz and improv scene.

Known for his idiosyncratic tastes, and regarded as something as an expert on modern experimental music he has released albums of jazz, electronica, noise and even guitar rock music. He has collaborated with the likes of Derek Bailey, Fennesz and Keith Rowe[?], and produced albums by artists as varied as Royal Trux[?] and Tony Conrad.

O'Rourke has released a large number of albums and was once a member of Gastr Del Sol[?] with songwriter David Grubbs[?]. He currently plays bass with the New York City rock band Sonic Youth
