Jena

Jena is a city in eastern Germany on the River Saale in Thuringia. Its population is 100,093. It is a manufacturing city, specializing in precision machinery, pharmaceuticals, optics and photographic equipment, and home to the famous Zeiss optics plant. The university "Friedrich Schiller" at Jena was founded in 1558. The University of Applied Sciences (http://www.fh-jena.de) at Jena was founded in 1990. On October 14, 1806 Napoleon fought the Prussian army here ("Battle of Jena-Auerstedt[?]").
