Japanese Red Army

The Japanese Red Army (sekigun in Japanese) formed as a splinter group of the Japanese Communist League - Red Army Faction[?] in 1970, with the stated aims of overthrowing the Japanese government and monarchy and enouraging worldwide revolution.

The group carried out several acts of international terrorism in the 1960s and 1970s, including a 1972 shooting massacre in Israel's Lod Airport[?].

JRA leader Fusako Shigenobu was arrested in November 2000. She later renounced violence, and claimed the group would disband in 2001.
