Being the first substancial new computer for the Acorn RISC OS/ARM platform since the RISC PC, the Iyonix PC fillfulls a key position for RISC OS users. It is comparible with what the Phoebe PC would have been should Acorn Ltd had not chosen in 1998 to withdraw from the personal-computer market.
The Iyonix also happens to be ideal for developing ARM-based PDA applications.
Units first went on sale in December 2002.
