Isocyanate

Isocyanate is the group -N=C=O, as opposed to cyanate[?], -O-C≡N, which is formed from cyanogen[?] in the normal -ate manner. An isocyanate is a compound containing the isocyanate group. See also cyanide, isothiocyanate[?].
