Ironsides

Old Ironsides was one of many nicknames for the parliamentarian leader, Oliver Cromwell. The troop of cavalry which he trained and equipped, and which formed the nucleus of the New Model Army, were also nicknamed Ironsides.

The USS Constitution is also nicknamed Old Ironsides.
