The modern state of Iraq, since its founding in the early 20th century, has been involved in the following wars:
- 1948 Arab-Israeli War
- Iran-Iraq War (1980-1988)
- the Gulf War (1990-1991), stemming from the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait (aka First Gulf War or Second Gulf War)
- 2003 Iraq war
in addition to internal conflicts which have involved governmental overthrow.
