International Organisation for Migration

Redirected from IOM

The International Organisation for Migration is an intergovernmental organisation. It was initially established in 1951 as the Intergovernmental Committee for European Migration (ICEM) to help resettle people displaced by World War II. Its remit has broadened over the years and it now helps with migration and migration issues across the world. It is not a United Nations agency but it does maintain a close working relationship with United Nations bodies.
