Intuit (music)

The Intuit are one of the indigenous peoples of North America's arctic region. Their folk music includes throat and mouth harp songs.

Intuit throat songs have an unusual technique that sounds akin to rhythmic deep raspy hyperventilating or animal sounds. Indeed, many songs are intended to imitate sounds of nature and daily life (compare with Xoomii). It's often sung by small groups of women, and it's not unusual for songs to end when one member or the entire ensemble breaks into laughter.
