Interpersonal communication

Interpersonal communication refers to communication with another person (also called dyadic communication).

Interpersonal communication encompasses:

  • listening
  • conversation
  • summarizing
  • paraphrasing

Having good interpersonal communication skills support such processes as:

  • selling
  • counselling
  • coaching
  • mentoring
  • conflict resolution


It can be affected by a communication disorder or by arrogance, shyness, etc.
