Chernyakhovsk

Redirected from Insterburg

Chernyakhovsk is a town in Oblast Kaliningrad, Russia. Originally called Insterburg and part of Eastern Prussia. It was taken over by the Soviet Union and renamed Chernyakhovsk.

Following its takeover, the Soviet Union ousted many East Prussians and brought in Russians, Byelorussians, Ukrainians, and Kazakhs.

After the fall of the Iron Curtain a group of people introduced the Akhal-Tekes horse breed to the area and opened an Akhal-Tekes horse breeding stable.
