Geography According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 60.3 km² (23.3 mi²). 59.2 km² (22.9 mi²) of it is land and 1.0 km² (0.4 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 1.72% water.

Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 2,802 people, 1,007 households, and 785 families residing in the township. The population density is 47.3/km² (122.5/mi²). There are 1,069 housing units at an average density of 18.0/km² (46.7/mi²). The racial makeup of the township is 97.82% White, 0.18% African American, 0.11% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.18% from other races, and 1.71% from two or more races. 0.61% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 1,007 households out of which 38.7% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 64.1% are married couples living together, 9.4% have a female householder with no husband present, and 22.0% are non-families. 17.9% of all households are made up of individuals and 5.1% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.78 and the average family size is 3.17.
