The United Methodist Church's cross-and-flame insignia. I (User:Geoffrey) have special permission to use it on Wikipedia as long as a specified copyright notice is provided. The notice is posted on United Methodist Church at the bottom inside a <small>.

The original e-mail (slightly edited to Wikipedia syntax):

Dear Geoffrey Thomas:

Thank you for inquiring about the Cross and Flame insignia. Given the nature of your use of the Cross and Flame (displayed on Wikipedia's free encyclopedia website article regarding the United Methodist Church), permission is granted to display the Cross and Flame only for this article on Wikipedia's website (www.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_Methodist_Church).

Please put the registration mark "R" below the Cross and Flame, preferably to the right of the cross. On your web page, as close as possible to the Cross and Flame, print the following:

"The Cross and Flame is used with permission. The Cross and Flame is a registered trademark and the use is supervised by the General Council on Finance and Administration of The United Methodist Church. Permission to use the Cross and Flame must be obtained from the GCFA, Legal Department, 1200 Davis Street, Evanston, IL 60201."
It is important that the design is not altered or modified in any form or shape, as stated in paragraph 807.8 of the 2000 Book of Discipline. You need to make sure that the dimensions of the Cross and Flame are correct. Legitimate users may download Cross and Flame images at www.umc.org/churchlibrary/artcatalog/crossandflame/ (http://www.umc.org/churchlibrary/artcatalog/crossandflame/) For more information, please visit GCFA's web site at www.gcfa.org (http://www.gcfa.org), where we have several pages on the Cross and Flame, including Internet use, at www.gcfa.org/Internetuse (http://www.gcfa.org/Internetuse).

We will appreciate your comments and/or suggestions on how user friendly the sites were and if they met your needs. We can help forward your concerns and suggestions promptly to the webmaster, where applicable. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns. Thank you.

Sincerely,

Christine Perrone
