View of the Kremlin from the Hotel Rossia

The Kremlin is the area within the Red Brick wall seen in the foreground. The tall gold-capped building in the center of the picture is the Ivan the Great Bell Tower. The gold cupola of the Cathedral of the Archangel Michael can be seen a bit to the left of the Bell Tower. In the background, just to the right of this cupola can be seen one of Stalin's notorious skyscrapers, perhaps the ministry of foreign affairs. It is actually some distance away from the Kremlin. The yellow building with the green roof capped with a gold dome is the Grand Palace of the Kremlin. This picture was taken from the Hotel Rossia. The gray sky is due to smog from nearby peat bog fires.
