Huerfano is a town located in San Juan County, New Mexico. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 104.

Geography Huerfano is located at 36°31'35" North, 108°1'52" West (36.526359, -108.031135)1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 69.5 km² (26.9 mi²). 69.5 km² (26.9 mi²) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water.

Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 104 people, 28 households, and 22 families residing in the town. The population density is 1.5/km² (3.9/mi²). There are 36 housing units at an average density of 0.5/km² (1.3/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 0.96% White, 0.00% African American, 99.04% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 0.00% from two or more races. 0.00% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 28 households out of which 39.3% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 57.1% are married couples living together, 17.9% have a female householder with no husband present, and 21.4% are non-families. 14.3% of all households are made up of individuals and 0.0% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 3.71 and the average family size is 4.32.
