Honolulu County, Hawaii

Honolulu County is a county located in the U.S. State of Hawaii. It is conterminous with the island of Oahu. As of 2000 the population was 876,156. The county seat is Honolulu.

Geography According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 5,509 km² (2,127 mi²). 1,553 km² (600 mi²) of it is land and 3,955 km² (1,527 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 71.80% water.

Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 876,156 people, 286,450 households, and 205,671 families residing in the county. The population density is 564/km² (1,461/mi²). There are 315,988 housing units at an average density of 203/km² (527/mi²). The racial makeup of the county is 21.28% White, 2.35% African American, 0.25% Native American, 46.04% Asian, 8.87% Pacific Islander, 1.28% from other races, and 19.93% from two or more races. 6.70% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 286,450 households out of which 31.80% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 54.50% are married couples living together, 12.30% have a female householder with no husband present, and 28.20% are non-families. 21.60% of all households are made up of individuals and 7.00% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.95 and the average family size is 3.46.

In the county the population is spread out with 23.80% under the age of 18, 10.10% from 18 to 24, 30.60% from 25 to 44, 22.00% from 45 to 64, and 13.40% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 36 years. For every 100 females there are 101.10 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 99.70 males.

The median income for a household in the county is $0, and the median income for a family is $0. Males have a median income of $0 versus $0 for females. The per capita income for the county is $0. 0.00% of the population and 0.00% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 0.00% are under the age of 18 and 0.00% are 65 or older.
