Honaunau-Napoopoo is a town located in Hawaii County, Hawaii. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 2,414.

Geography Honaunau-Napoopoo is located at 19°26'45" North, 155°53'14" West (19.445961, -155.887090)1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 104.2 km² (40.2 mi²). 98.5 km² (38.0 mi²) of it is land and 5.7 km² (2.2 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 5.47% water.

Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 2,414 people, 846 households, and 591 families residing in the town. The population density is 24.5/km² (63.5/mi²). There are 944 housing units at an average density of 9.6/km² (24.8/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 35.29% White, 0.29% African American, 0.87% Native American, 17.48% Asian, 14.21% Pacific Islander, 2.07% from other races, and 29.78% from two or more races. 6.13% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 846 households out of which 30.1% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 50.4% are married couples living together, 11.9% have a female householder with no husband present, and 30.1% are non-families. 20.3% of all households are made up of individuals and 5.2% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.85 and the average family size is 3.35.

In the town the population is spread out with 25.1% under the age of 18, 8.2% from 18 to 24, 23.7% from 25 to 44, 31.0% from 45 to 64, and 11.9% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 40 years. For every 100 females there are 104.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 104.5 males.

The median income for a household in the town is $41,912, and the median income for a family is $47,679. Males have a median income of $31,201 versus $24,453 for females. The per capita income for the town is $20,025. 13.5% of the population and 11.6% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 12.8% are under the age of 18 and 5.8% are 65 or older.
