Hilversum is a middle-size town in The Netherlands, with approximately 80,000 inhabitants. It is located in the province Noord-Holland in an area called Het Gooi, and is surrounded by moors, woodland, meadows, lakes and smaller villages. Hilversum is located 30 kilometers south-east of Amsterdam, and some 25 kilometers north of Utrecht.

The town calls itself 'media city'. It is the active center of national radio- and television broadcasting. It hosts the large Television- and Audio complex run by the NOB (the national broadcast service), the studios and offices of all public broadcasting companies and many commercial TV production companies.

Hilversum is also known for the architectural importance of its town hall, which was designed by Willem Dudok[?] (1884-1974).
