"Hi" is a word of greeting.

Hi is less formal than Hello, and more formal than slang greetings, including sup?

Hi is also a shorthand for high[?]. Examples are phrases like Hi-low[?], or Hi-Fi[?].

HI is the postal abbreviation for Hawaii.
